The Ranch...

So. Still no word on an interview, which means no idea where I'll be living, which means can't look for a place to live, which means I'm floor-surfing on an air mattress. TFA only housed us through Wednesday, then I went to stay with Hailey out on "TFA Lane," ie "The Ranch," which is where I was going to be living (my housemate just found someone else to take my spot). There are eight 2-3 bedroom houses in a row on the edge of a field, mostly rented by TFA members. There are about 40 cows roaming around right out front. It would've been a whole different experience. When Hailey moved into her place, she found a tarantula and a bunch of lizards. We had an awesome dinner at a place called Takos Aka (which is a place where, on our recommendation, another corp member tried it and informed us, they only speak Spanish... um, duh). Also interesting, everyone always knows that we are maestras (teachers), just by the fact that we're white and out there I guess.

Here are some pics from out on the Ranch:

Hailey and I went for a walk out in the field just before sunset and it was amazing (it's friggin hot out there during the day but the sunsets are gorgeous and you can see so many stars at night); there are tons of creatures out there from dung beetles to rattlers to jack rabbits to tarantulas. And there are two ponds:

Hailey and I saw some dung beetles; they rolled the dung in a ball by moving it backwards (see video; that's Hailey narrating):
