Health returns slowly
My orthopedist said that my arm is healing well enough that he doesn't need to check up on me anymore! I still need to build back up my strength and work on my supination (turning my palm toward the sky) but I'm using my arm regularly and only remember its limitations when I realize it's difficult to turn a door knob completely, or put my hand out to receive change. The scars are healing well enough. The plates in my arm will most likely be permanent. I guess I could have the one on my ulna (the outside) removed if I wanted but there's a great chance of permanent nerve damage if he tries to remove the one on the radius (inside). As far as a settlement, it'll likely be some time (probably next year) that we are finished. And I went running and swimming for the first time this week, which was good.
