Sparkley, and "Spring" Update

Some times with Matt I feel sparkle-y. I know it should be sparkling but sparkley seems to fit the feeling better. Like those slow motion walking, laughing, hand holding couple scenes in movies. Like moviestars. Like I'm as happy as I ever hoped to be, and I just hope the world is kind enough to let us stay together. Just... in love. I feel like a more glamorous version of myself. He's just wonderful. There are times I feel a little stressed and he is so calm and it makes me want to just push that stress aside and appreciate every moment instead.

So our so called "spring," ugh it has not been nice more than like two days in the last several months. Matt had given his notice at work so he could move to Bend to be with me. I couldn't move to Portland until after Jan 2012, unless I want to pay back $8000 to the IRS for the first-time homebuyers credit I took in 2009 that apparently stipulated that my house needs to be my primary residence for three years. And I was tired of driving back and forth, or rather just living at Matt's apartment in Wilsonville while my house sat empty and my cat Jack hung out causing trouble at my parents' house. It was a huge step for us, Matt moving three hours to a new part of the state, even after he vowed not to make another big decision for a woman. But happily he proposed before he moved, so that eased my mind and my more recent commitment to self not to live with anyone before we were at least engaged.

Since he decided to move as soon as possible, which ended up being mid-January, he was leaving without a job lined up. Luckily we were able to find people to sublet his apartment for the last two months of his lease and we boxed everything up and got outta there. The weekend we moved couldn't have been more wet. Over Hwy 22 near Detroit Lake there was literally a waterfall flowing onto the highway and across into the lake. We were happy to get over to the "dry" side of the state, though then we had the longest, snowiest, wettest winter I've seen in Bend in a long time.

But we spent our time settling in together. And Matt was looking for work, which meant he was home with me while I worked during the day, which I actually really loved. He'd make breakfast or lunch sometimes, we'd take my "lunch" break to go for a run together. I'd think we'd get a little tired of each other but that doesn't seem to happen much :) We also took on repainting a few rooms, since... well... the colors I had picked... I'd picked alone, as a bachelorette, and wasn't all that fond of them once I had the whole room painted. I wanted Matt to feel that this is OUR home, not just my house. So the office went from what was supposed to be a spring green
to a more grown-up tan and brown scheme

And the baby blue master bedroom
to a sexier adult red wine and tan

Matt also did an amazing bathroom remodel, which I'll post separately.

Otherwise we just made wedding plans and enjoyed our time together. Hard to imagine that a year ago I was single, not even knowing I'd meet him. And now I have this amazing fiance with a bright future to look forward to.
