So we finally made it to the Rio Grande Valley! The drive from San Antonio is only about 3 hours through some lovely farmlands and brushy treed areas. It's actually a lot more green and pretty than I expected. It got up to about 100' but was slightly cooler in the Valley than on the way down. And even that's surprised me because 100' really doesn't feel much more hot than 90'... however 106' is WAY too hot, I was dizzy & cranky, I'll just try to actually use the A/C if it gets that hot again... that's a promise, Mom!
Edinburg!
Tomorrow I move my stuff into a storage unit, then check-in at "Induction" and stay in Edinburg for about a week. It sounds like I get to meet the principal with whom I interviewed for dinner on Thursday in Rio Grande City, along with one TFA member who currently teaches there and two other new TFA members who were also interviewed. I'm feeling ready. Not ready to teach, but at least ready to meet the other corps members and start my training. I guess I've already begun by driving down here, yet I was about to say I'm ready to begin.
